An echocardiogram (echo) is a non-invasive, painless ultrasound test used to visualise the heart's structure and function, which takes around 30 minutes

It is used to assess heart and valve function and can accurately diagnose a wide range of important heart conditions.

The test is performed with you lying on a couch.  Stickers are placed to measure the electrical activity of the heart and a small amount of gel is applied to the chest.  This allows moving pictures of the heart to be taken through the ultrasound device (transducer) which are then interpreted to produce a report.

Why see a Cardiologist
I have private medical cover - can I be seen at South Yorkshire Heart Centre?
I don’t have private medical cover - can I still arrange an appointment?
How much does a new patient appointment cost if I am a self-paying patient?
